The Observatory

The Observatory is the research branch of CECODHAS HOUSING EUROPE. Its main aim is to identify and analyze key trends and research needs in the field of housing and social housing at European level. The Observatory supports CECODHAS HOUSING EUROPE's policy work by providing strategic and evidence-based analysis in the field.

Findings by the Observatory are collected in a number of different publications:

The Observatory launched in 2008 a Briefing series. The Observatory research briefings aim at providing a snapshot of key issues for the housing sector throughout the EU, in the form of short reviews of recent literature and statistics on selected topics.

Other research reports by the Observatory include, amongst others, the Housing Europe review, a comprehensive account of the social, co-operative and public housing sector in the 27 EU member states, as well as the internal CECODHAS General Survey, conducted amongst social housing providers represented at CECODHAS HOUSING EUROPE. Both studies are carried out on a regular basis every 2 years.
