Housing and Health: opportunities and challenges in a time of welfare changes

Building the future of Health - 3 June, Groningen, Netherlands

Groningen, 3 June 2016Save the date

Housing Europe organises within the framework of the "Building the Future of Health" conference a side-event on the issue of "Housing and Health: opportunities and challenges in a time of welfare changes".

The experience and the evidence are clear: good housing helps us stay healthy, with warm, dry homes and access to green space making a big impact on people’s wellbeing. However, the policies and politics of the new welfare state have led to decreased support to the affordable housing thus creating new risks for the well-being of vulnerable groups. How will the quest for more cost effective policies impact the activities of the social housing sector and which impact will it have on the health of residents? How can new synergies be created between the different sectors despite the difficult context?

The event aims at tackling those questions by bringing together a mix of practitioners and policy makers from the national and the EU level.

This event will be part of Housing Europe’s campaign Housing for All.
