CECODHAS Housing Europe's newly elected President, Kurt Eliasson
"Dear colleagues of CECODHAS Housing Europe,
as newly elected President, I would like to thank you, I am very honoured to have this trust placed in me.
Under my leadership, my priorities will be focus on the EU’s long-term budget for 2014 to 2020 and the preparatory work prior to the European Parliament elections in 2014. The serious effects of the financial crisis must be eliminated with powerful means.
We must, for example, ensure a pronounced increase in new production of homes. The population of Europe is increasing in number and we must have houses that do not push borrowing to unreasonably high levels. Failure to do this will not only have an impact on the purchasing power of private households, but the EU common housing and labour market will also be impaired.
That is why my commitment will be in line with the three pillars identified by CECODHAS Housing Europe:
- People first: Improve people’s lives by putting their needs at the centre of our action,
- The big shift: More balanced housing market,
- Sustainable business model: Improve business conditions for our members so they can deliver both better .
I really feel that CECODHAS Housing Europe has an important role to play. I am confident that together we can really make a difference for residents and thereby over time also play an important role in the development of Europe."
