Sustainable housing
The Union and its Member States are facing serious challenges, resulting from a combination of environmental and energy issues. To respect the Kyoto protocol's targets of GHG emissions reduction as well as European own energy targets, with the residential sector currently accounting for around 27% of energy consumption in the EU, the potential reduction in CO2 emissions that energy efficient housing would provide cannot be underestimated.
Housing for all
CECODHAS HOUSING EUROPE has a vision of a Europe that provides access to decent and affordable housing for all in communities which are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable and where all are enabled to reach their full potential. For this vision to be real, social housing providers work to ensure that all, regardless their origin, disabilities, gender, can have access to affordable and decent housing in lively neighbourhoods.
Cohesion and urban policies
The territorial cohesion process is at the heart of Eu agenda. And from CECODHAS HOUSING EUROPE perspective it is impossible to separate individuals from the places and communities they live in. Improving people’s life chances can only be achieved through actions on their living conditions and their communities.
EU Legal framework and housing
Today, in an integrated economy, housing market stability is of crucial importance for sustainable growth as the recent sub-prime crisis has shown. Our members, being not-for profit providers, contribute to economic and social stability for the long term through the services they deliver.
