European Neighbours’ Day
European Neighbours' Day is an initiative of the European Federation of Local Solidarity (E.F.L.S.) Its objective is to foster community cohesion in Europe, by creating networks for exchanges on neighbourly and community practices.
Neighbours' Day is celebrated every year on the last Tuesday of May. This year marked the 11th anniversary of Neighbours' Day since it was launched in Paris, in 2000.
Any city or town or social housing organization is welcome to participate in Neighbours' Day by promoting the event together with the inhabitants. It is then up to each resident or group of residents to organise their own party. Through this exchange among residents, sharing experiences and good practices, this event gives to citizens the opportunity to interact and to join in the making of Europe, an ever closer and more human European community.
