Northern Ireland Housing Executive

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) as Regional Housing Authority has primary responsibilities, under existing legislation, among other things, to regularly examine housing conditions and housing requirements; to effect the improvement of the condition of the housing stock; to encourage the provision of new houses; to establish housing information and advisory services; to consult with District Councils and the Northern Ireland Housing Council and to manage its own housing stock in Northern Ireland.

As the Home Energy Conservation Authority for Northern Ireland, its goal is to provide everyone with the opportunity to access decent, affordable housing in safe and sustainable communities; deliver excellent housing services; develop strategies to influence the wider housing market and work with others to foster urban and rural renewal and contribute to improved health and social well-being.
