The Network of Alternative and Solidarity Economy (REAS) was created in 1995 to develop the Solidarity Economy in Spain. Our different lines of work are based on the principles and values of the Solidarity Economy Charter, aiming to act with respect and care for the environment, promote a model of solidarity and collaboration, and prioritise people and their needs over profit or profitability.
Since 2020, the REAS Red de Redes Cooperative Housing Working Group has been collaborating on the development of a non-profit cooperative housing model.
The objectives of this group are to facilitate the collective construction of the sector, focus efforts, work in a network with mutual support, engage in political and regulatory advocacy, and improve the dissemination of the model.
Currently, following our model, there are more than 25 projects in operation, more than 80 with land in the process of development, and a significant number of groups created for new projects.
