Tech solutions and approaches

The public, cooperative, and social housing sector has proven to be capable of picking up change. One way of testing state-of-the-art technology and gaining knowledge, is to get involved in innovative projects that offer international collaboration, exchange, and funding.

Scaling up energy-efficient building and renovation processes is a recurrent challenge.

Potential solutions in this area include developing tools that can better aggregate demand and match it with industrialised offers, such as our GigaRegioFactory or BARRIO projects. Another important factor to consider is the resources used for retrofitting, with projects like BE-WoodEN looking into the best ways to use bio-based materials and ARV investigating how to integrate circularity in building and renovating, and then trying to scale it up.

GigaRegioFactory

The Life Giga Regio Factory project is based on the need for a change of scale to be able to target 10% of the market by 2030 and 1 million homes renovated to a guaranteed zero-energy level in an industrialised way in Europe

RE-SKIN

The aim of the RE-SKIN project is to ride the Renovation Wave by developing and testing an integrated and multifunctional system for energy retrofit of buildings.

ARV

The goal of the ARV project is to speed up the deep energy renovations and the deployment of energy and climate measures in the construction and energy industries.

BE-WoodEN

The LIFE Be-WoodEN project promotes building decarbonization and circularity by overcoming barriers to using wood and bio-based materials.

Install.res

The install.res project aims to boost demand for heat pumps in existing buildings by demonstrating and replicating innovative, cost-effective business and delivery models.

Housing Solutions for Independent Living

HS4IL - Housing Solutions for Independent Living project aims to identify, analyse, and disseminate innovations that effectively support accessible housing solutions for persons with disabilities.

Build Up Speed

BuildUPspeed wants to accelerate the volume and depth of deep renovation of the EU building stock, supporting the EU Renovation Wave, by introducing and implementing a Market Activation Platform, to accelerate industrialised renovation solutions.

Metabuilding Labs

Metabuilding promotes innovation and the emergence of new technologies for a sustainable, connected, resilient, scalable, competitive, durable, and inclusive Built Environment.

BARRIO

BARRIO aims to streamline and enhance large-scale building renovations through a comprehensive approach that includes demand aggregation, supply coordination, and the use of industrialized prefabricated solutions.
