Co-organised by Cooperatives Europe, Housing Europe, REScoop.eu, SEE and the Intergroup on Social Economy and Services of General Interest, this event will explore the contribution of the social economy and particularly cooperatives to delivering sustainable housing solutions across Europe. Through collective ownership and democratic control, social economy and cooperative housing models take housing out of the speculation logics. Moving beyond the conventional public–private housing discourse, the conference will highlight a variety of actors and long-established approaches that, while often treated as new, remain significantly unknown and underutilised. Experts and practitioners will be invited to share their perspectives, exchange best practices, and inform the development of policy proposals in the context of the forthcoming European Affordable Housing Plan.
